Built-in templates missing because templates have not been installed.
Cause:
Not all the templates are installed during a typical installation of Excel. All built-in templates are installed only if a complete installation is performed.
Solution:
Run Office Setup program and install the missing templates.
1) Close all open applications:
a) Right-click on the taskbar button for the application and select 'Close' from the shortcut menu.
b) Click 'Close' to close the application.
NOTE: Select all four corners of the monitor screen by running the mouse pointer over all four edges for a hidden toolbar or shortcut bar; these MUST be closed before continuing the installation.
2) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.

3) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'.

4) Open the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. (The Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box appears.)
5) Click the 'Install/Uninstall' tab.
6) Select 'Microsoft Office' or 'Microsoft Office Professional' from the list of installed applications.

NOTE: If Microsoft Office was originally installed, the Microsoft Office Professional installation disks cannot be used to install the Excel templates. If Microsoft Office Professional was originally installed, the Microsoft Office disks cannot be used to install the Excel templates.
7) Click 'Add/Remove...'. (The Setup dialog box appears with a prompt to insert the Microsoft Office disk.)
8) Insert the Office 95 installation CD ROM or diskette, and click 'OK'.
9) Wait for the 'Welcome to Installation Maintenance Program' screen to appear and click 'Add/Remove...'.

NOTE: If any applications are still running, the 'Microsoft Office Setup' dialog box recommends that these applications be closed before continuing, and the Microsoft Office 95 set up program lists any applications currently running. Click 'Exit', close all open applications, and restart with Step 2).
10) Select the 'Microsoft Excel' option in the 'Options' list box. (Microsoft Excel is highlighted.)
11) Click 'Change Option...'. (The Microsoft Office - Microsoft Excel dialog box appears with the Options list box containing a list of Excel components.)
12) Select the 'Spreadsheet Templates' option. (Spreadsheet Templates is highlighted.)
13) Click 'Change Option...' to select the templates to install. (The Microsoft Office - Spreadsheet Templates dialog box appears with the Options list box containing a list of templates.)
14) Select the desired template check boxes.
NOTE: To select all templates, click 'Select All'. (All template check boxes will be selected.)
15) Click 'OK'. (The Microsoft Office - Microsoft Excel dialog box reappears.)
NOTE: Select the 'Space required on <drive>' box and the 'Space available on <drive>' box at the bottom of the Microsoft Office - Maintenance dialog box, where <drive> is the location of the installation, to make sure there is enough space for the installation. If not enough space is available, click 'Change Option...' again, clear the templates that will not be used frequently, and click 'OK' to return to the 'Microsoft Office - Microsoft Excel' dialog box.
16) Click 'OK'. (The Microsoft Office - Maintenance dialog box reappears.)
17) Click 'Continue' to start the installation.
18) Click 'OK' to exit the setup program.
19) Click 'OK' to close the 'Add/Remove Programs Properties' dialog box.
